Dental Veneers Vs. Implants

Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded directly to the surface of your teeth. Whether your teeth have chips, cracks, gaps, and stains, dental veneers can be used to cover up these minor dental imperfections. But in order for veneers to fit properly, an expert in veneer inLos Angeles will need to remove a small amount of enamel, usually about 0.5mm, so that the veneers do not bulge past the other teeth. But if properly cared for, veneers can last up to 15 years.

Dental implants are used for an entirely different purpose. Veneers are used to cover up cosmetic problems, but implants are used to prevent actual health problems. A veneer is placed on a tooth that is still structurally there, but an implant is used when an entire tooth is missing. When a tooth goes missing, the surrounding teeth can drift out of position or the jawbone can deteriorate and the facial features will begin to sag. Dental implants prevent these issues from happening.

If an entire tooth in your smile has gone missing, your dentist will most likely recommend a dental implant. But if you just have a few aesthetic problems, veneers will probably be your best course of action.
